Design & Engineering
The design function at Nelson is an integral component of our organization. This area is essential for both our own proprietary
products as well as assisting our customers with their own product development. Our skilled technicians combine the use of
modern design software and extensive manufacturing equipment to develop products from concept right through to completion.
Nelson Industrial Inc. provides design and engineering support services in the following areas:
• Mechanical; Thermal; Compliance; Industrial Design; Electrical; EMC; N.P.I. Computerized Resources Include:
• 12 CAD/Cam stations; Solid Edge, Solid Works, Cadkey, AutoCad, AutoCad LT, Fabriwin, and Cadman
• File Handling Capabilities are DXF, DWG, DWF, IGES, STEP, PARASOLID, and STL
Projects initiated through the computer assisted design process are electronically transferred to programming stations then
downloaded directly to the production machines on the shop floor. This is a continuous process that minimizes error, offers great
flexibility for revisions and reduces the time required for product development.
Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”)
Nelson’s state-of-the art ERP software ensures that all functional areas within the company are fully integrated. Our extensive CAD resources, including 3D modeling software, ensure an accelerated product development process. Product files are electronically transferred to programming stations then downloaded directly to the production machines on the shop floor. Our ERP System is designed to support concurrent engineering processes and control flexible production schedules. From product design and order entry, through the manufacturing process, our information systems allow us to maximize resource utilization, trace job progress and ensure aggressive delivery schedules are met.
